Sept. 2006 - Stopped birth control in an attempt to live more "naturally" (plus I didn't like what it was doing to my body). Started BBT to keep an eye on my cycles. At this point, we adopted a 'we're not trying, but won't be upset if it happens' approach towards pregnancy. This went on for quite some time..
Sept. 2007 - Started wondering if something was up, but just chalked it up to the fact that we hadn't "officially" been trying that hard. "Officially" started to try.
Jan. 2008 - Booked an appointment with my doctor, just to check. Was told that we had to be actively trying for a year before we could pursue any treatments, so to "relax and keep trying."
March 2009 - After moving to a new city, found a new doctor and he was gung ho to test and find out why nothing was happening. Completed a series of month long hormone blood tests which all came back normal. Also started to see a naturopathic doctor, who did not see any glaring problems either.
Sept. 2009 - DH completes his testing, of which the results were normal, but somewhat inconclusive
Aug. 2010 - Moved, again, to a new city. Started working at a naturopathic office and meeting with a great doctor there. Again, there were no problems that she could see from her diagnosis. Started acupuncture anyways, to help regulate things just in case. Started a few herbal formulations and good multivitamins/minerals to help. Also found a good family doctor who finally referred me to a OBGYN who handles fertility cases in this city (it's a small town and we don't have an official fertility clinic). More blood tests done and all came back normal. He ordered an HSG (an ultrasound in which they inject you with a dye to see if your uterus or fallopian tubes are blocked), which appeared fine. DH was tested again and his results came back normal too - a bit low, but nothing needing concern. Officially given the "unexplained infertility" diagnosis.
Aug. 2011 - Started first round of clomid as a "first step" to see if it helped. Completed 3 rounds with nothing but pain and lots of raging hormones (moodiness). On the waitlist for the fertility clinic in the nearest big city (3 hours away)... appointment booked for Nov. 2011. Planning to look into IUI and possibly consider IVF.
Nov. 2011 - First fertility clinic visit. Considering IUI as a first step.
Nov. 22, 2011 - Clomid cycle 4: AF comes for a visit. Day 1 of the first round of IUI. LH surge happened over the weekend and we were unable to get to the clinic (it's 3 hours away and it was a Sunday).
December 2011 - Clomid cycle 5: Hoping for IUI but clinic was closed weekend of the surge due to Christmas/New Year's break.
Jan. 2012 - 6th cycle of clomid. Ovulated early and missed the chance for IUI...shoot!
Feb. 2012 - Began 7th cycle of clomid.
March 1, 2012 - First IUI finally completed!

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to post this comment here -- I've updated my URL and wanted to let you know, since you so kindly include my blog in your "Blogs for Fun" list. I was at www.joysofinfertility.com, and while that URL still works, you'll want to update your list to www.peanutmom.com.
ReplyDeleteThank you. And I'm so sorry to hear about your latest BFN. Infertility sucks the big one. <3
